After years of planning and development, and months of construction, we’re proud to announce that Moredon Sporting Hub will officially open its doors on Wednesday 10th July.
On Sunday 14th July 2024 we are holding a public open day and welcoming everyone to come and enjoy our new facilities and join free taster sessions across the site. Come and see the new regional standard cycle track, MSH Mini Roads for kids, BMX pump track and cyclocross course. You’ll also find 3G football pitches, cricket, softball, and croquet facilities and a café with community spaces.
Whether you’re a big or little kid you can try out cyclocross skills with Cotswold Veldrijden between 10:00 – 14:00. Or bring your bike along to have a ride around the new traffic-free cycle track! There will also be a chance for people with disabilities to try out a range of adapted cycles between 10:00 – 11:30. For young children there’s the MSH Mini Roads, where little ones can test out their skills in the traffic- free space. All activities are free and no booking is required. Please note that the learn-to-ride and cycle skills sessions for children taking place on the day are now fully booked but we’ll be running lots more courses during the school holidays.
A bike mechanic will be on hand offering free basic bike repairs and Swindon Travel Choices will be security marking bikes and giving out information about getting cycling.
Meanwhile, do come and see the British Cycling stand to find out about the Let’s Ride programme of free guided rides. You’ll also be able to meet some of Swindon’s local cycling clubs.
If cycling isn’t your thing, you can join a tour of the other fantastic new sports facilities and try your hand at one of the many other free activities on offer.
There will be football skills sessions taking place on the new 3G full-size artificial surface and grass pitches. You could also join Swindon Croquet Club for a free taster session, or develop your cricket skills with Wiltshire Cricket League, and you can even try your hand at softball with local group, Swindon Softball.
We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 14th July, 10am to 3pm.
The new multisport facility has been funded by Sport England, British Cycling, The Football Foundation, Swindon Borough Council, and Central Swindon North Parish Council.
