Getting to firework displays in Swindon
There are several organised firework displays to enjoy around Swindon. Here are the details of the major events, along with suggested ways of getting there without a car.
Lydiard Fireworks and Bonfire Spectacular
The grounds of Lydiard Park will be packed with families wanting to celebrate this autumnal occasion as an epic evening of fireworks entertainment is put on at this popular Swindon park.
Location: Lydiard Park, Swindon, SN5 3PA,
Date/Times: Saturday 2nd November, Doors open at 4:30pm, bonfire lit at 6pm,, fireworks at 7pm
Getting there:
Swindon Bus Company 1 and 1a serve stops on Hay Lane / Tregoze Way where its a short walk into the park. For a wider variety of bus services, you may find that the Link Centre provides a better destination point, where Lydiard park is a 30-minute walk away.
After 6pm, adult evening rider tickets cost £3.30, but family dayriders (for 2 adults and up to 3 children) may provide better value. These cost just £6 at weekends.

Swindon Lions Fireworks
Location: Polo Ground, Marlborough Road, Swindon (entrance will only be from Marlborough Road (close to the Windsor Road mini-roundabout) and Downs View Road.
Date/Times: Saturday November 2nd, 2024, Gates and Funfair open from 5.00 pm. Firework display at 6.45 pm promptly.
Getting there:
FREE Park and Ride at Nationwide Car Park, Pipers Way, SN3 1TA. ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES to travel on the FREE Park and Ride bus from the Nationwide Car Park to the Polo Ground. Arrangements can be made for those who need disabled access: please email contact@swindonlions.org.
Car access will only be given to cars displaying the blue badge and these need to arrive at the Marlborough Road entrance before 4.45pm.
Public transport: Buses that travel to the Piper’s Way roundabout on Marlborough Road (10 minute walk to the Polo Ground) include the Swindon Bus Company 11, and the 12 (which gets you closer) and Stagecoach 49 service.
Buses travelling to Coate roundabout (a 15-minute walk from the Polo Ground) include the Swindon Bus Company 1, 1a, 13, 14 and the Stagecoach 81, 46A and 48A

Firework Price: Entry will be by tickets purchased in advance only and tickets can either be purchased from the One Stop Shop, Guildford Avenue, Lawns or online – see the website.
Facilities: In addition to the Fireworks display and BBC Radio Wiltshire’s James Threlfell, there will also be a funfair as well as refreshment stalls. The net proceeds from the fireworks display will be used by the Lions Club for charitable causes.
Swindon Cricket Club
This year’s family-friendly firework and bonfire night at the Swindon Cricket Club is set to be an outstanding show of colour as Swindon’s night sky is transformed by this mesmerising firework display.
Location: Swindon Cricket Club, The County Ground, County Road, Swindon SN1 2EE
Date/Times: Saturday November 2nd, 2024, Gates and Funfair open from 5.00 pm. The organisers will not be committing to bonfire lighting or fireworks launch timings in advance of the evening.
Getting there: There is no parking on site except for blue badge holders where 10 disabled parking spaces only will be made available on the night. The site is a 15-minute walk from the bus and train station in Swindon town centre.
